Branches Devotional Workbooks
“I am the vine and you are the branches. If you remain in me and I and you, you will produce much fruit. Apart from me, you can do nothing.” John 15:5
For the last eight years, I have been writing Branches Devotional Collection, a devotional Bible series for New Believers, Christian families and people who simply want to grow in their faith. I have been able to write this study through a two-year course in Bible interpretation, my own reading and research on theology, grace and mercy, my experience in being open to the hearts and minds of others, and the prompting of the Holy Spirit who reminds me daily of the words of Jesus.
Throughout all of this, I have come to the conclusion that what matters is not our learned theology or doctrine, nor our pointing out of sin or judgment of others. It is the invitation to all of the acceptance of the unconditional love and radical grace of our Father through Jesus. It is the value and the importance of learning what the words of Jesus, carried to us from our Father truly mean. It is our ministry of reconciliation, not accusation. It is in this spirit, I have written these Devotionals.
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. (2 Cor.5:16-20)
Each week, these devotionals comprise an introductory Bible passage, a life application, a biblical role model and an end-of-week review. Four days per week to schedule as you choose throughout the months of the readings. The activities are not mandatory, yet if you choose to do them, they will enhance your understanding and allow you to go deeper in your journey with Jesus.
You’ll find a Branches Devotional Workbook can help you
- Become more familiar with your Bible
- Take the uncertainty and apprehension out of reading God’s Word
- Show you the story of Jesus throughout the entire Bible
- Connect you with the heart of God
- Give you an understanding of and connection to the Holy Spirit inside you
- Allow you to see the true Gospel of love, grace and mercy
- Open the door to a daily, intimate relationship with God
As you read, respond to the questions and do the activities, you will see how each Devotional takes small but significant portions of God’s Word and illustrates how they are reoccurring themes throughout the Bible. You can see the threads that connect it all into a giant, woven pattern that is the beautiful tapestry, from Genesis to Revelation, of God’s restoration for all of creation through Jesus Christ. The five workbooks are:
Branches:Genesis begins at the beginning. It’s a six-month journey through creation, showing the beauty and majesty of God’s intention for mankind. You’ll clearly see the Father, the Holy Spirit and Jesus involved in the Intelligent Design of it all.
Branches:Psalm 23 investigates over six months why the Lord is our Shepherd, how He has set before us other good shepherds to watch over us and how to distinguish good shepherds from bad ones. You will learn to praise God in all circumstances and see his presence in all things.
Branches:The Beatitudes takes five months to review a way of being Christ considers a blessing; it is the way of being that overcomes you as you learn to abide in and follow Christ, as you learn to surrender to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Branches:The Lord’s Prayer guides you in prayer to the Father. Jesus said He came to do the Father’s will; in studying each verse of the prayer He teaches, you will understand how stepping into the Father’s will keeps you in the steps of Jesus. You will begin to understand the importance and power of prayer in daily life.
Branches:The Fruit of the Spirit is an in-depth, nine-month exploration into what it truly means to become one with the Holy Spirit. One fruit with nine seeds build upon one another and produce a tree that flourishes with the character and wisdom of the Spirit of God. This Spirit is already in you; the way to His power is to surrender completely and allow Him to renew your heart and mind.
