While Chaos Looms

While chaos looms and swirls above

and all seems hopeless now,

the Lord has your heart in His hands

and to you makes these vows:

As He gives power to the weak,

He strengthens those who trust.

The hopeful soar on eagles’ wings

And walk with Humblest.1

“I give you plans for peace,” says God,

“and future filled with hope.”

He guards you from forthcoming harm

and helps you now to cope. 2

Christ gives you rest when burdened most;

He knows your loads and trials

and wants to swap your weight for His,

the lightest of them all. 3

He wants to reassure and claim

that you are not alone.

While you can’t do it by yourself,

the Spirit’s strength be known. 4

And even as all this is true,

Christ gives you peace of mind.

He takes your worries far away;

in you His peace enshrined. 5

So open up your heart to God

and let Him free your soul.

When hands unbound can open wide

you transform, become whole.

The chaos hardly matters, and

the circumstances wane

as you allow Friend Jesus in

to cast away the chains.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the suffering and afflicted. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted, to announce liberty to captives, and to open the eyes of the blind. (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18)
