When I seek out things you do wrong
And point my finger at your face
I don’t invite you to belong
Or welcome you with God’s embrace; you miss His song.
God sings of love and forgiveness,
He leads us to a restful place
And wants to take away our stress.
He fills us with His perfect grace; our souls to bless.
So if you feel your anger raise
Do not allow this curse to win.
Extinguish it with words of praise
To God and friend or foe or kin; learn Jesus’ ways.*
Easy to find the good in friends
But that is not our mission here.
To all His sons we must attend,
His daughters we must all hold dear; our bonds must mend.
For linked we are as common heirs
And look for good in all; we need
To keep our Savior’s quest to bear.
His invitation keeps us freed; His constant prayer.
“If you love me, obey my commands.” (John 14:15)
