Original Perfection

babies

Before the Son was born to shine

Transforming us from what we’ve been

No longer stained, but brand-new wine

Unspoiled by original sin;

Born were we of a tainted past.

Our shame and guilt is lifted off

We’re born with no more burden weight

Love of Jesus born in a trough

Mercy of Father oh so great;

Grace of each limitless and vast.

Why place upon ourselves the chains

Which Christ removed so perfectly

When we allow His freedom reign

We see through His eyes tenderly;

Compassion rules our hearts steadfast.

Surrender is our proven hope

While God continues to pursue

He takes a wide and catholic scope;

He doesn’t parse His choice to woo.

Remains is our choice to receive

God’s grace, His love, His Spirit’s sight,

His invitation to believe

Our transformation He’ll ignite

And our inheritance forecast.

  4. Merry Christmas! Thank you for sharing your walk of faith! I love the verse about Christ removing chains, yet so often I fall short and don’t fully realize the plans God has for my life. God’s wonderful plan is often so much greater than we can imagine!

    1. It is much greater, Rick. And all we have to do is be open to the gifts, the plan.
