Are we tired yet of death and mourning,
Assigning blame and wanting our own way.
Father hear my prayer, we’ve lost our moorings,
From Your great love and grace we’ve gone astray.
Are we ready to attend the warnings?
Christ’s murder on the cross should all death stay.
We are all the seed of Your Creation
Yet to each we cause such desolation.
From womb to death row we snatch away life;
Life You gave to honor, love, respect.
Instead of Your compassion we serve strife.
We’re first to turn our back, choose to reject,
So thick the hatred, cut it with a knife;
Refuse to see how deep our choice affects.
Instead of roaming wide embracing hate,
Return and enter by the narrow gate. *
Allow the Spirit to transform our hearts and minds. **
Let not another child of God be killed
And shed our fears and bias, no more blind.
Turn from anger; mercy and grace instill;
Drink not from scorn, instead a cup of kind.
As Jesus, we must do our Father’s will.
Our mission is to love and reconcile ***
So no one is denied God’s gracious smile.
* “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Matthew 7:13-14
** “Do not allow this world to mold you in its own image. Instead, be transformed from the inside out by renewing your mind. As a result, you will be able to discern what God wills and whatever God finds good, pleasing, and perfect.” Romans 12:2
*** “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and he has entrusted this message of restored relationships to us to tell others. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19
