In Silence

dandelion_partial_summer

In hush of dawn near inaudibly prayed

To You lift my heart to approve and test.

Often in silence Your voice is conveyed.

In full surrender my fears are allayed.

I give myself over to streams of rest

In hush of dawn near inaudibly prayed.

I breathe, my blood flows, whole prayer through the day,

Unceasing and wordless, faith manifest;

Often in silence Your voice is conveyed.

My burden is lifted, no more distrait.

Compassion, forgiveness, with You I’m dressed.

In hush of dawn near inaudibly prayed.

This love You pour in overwhelms in spate;

By Your heartfelt grace I am truly blessed.

Often in silence Your voice is conveyed.

As grace passes through this child You have made

Other daughters and sons know Your caress

In hush of dawn near inaudibly prayed.

Often in silence Your voice is conveyed.

  1. Sometimes I wonder if I have truly surrendered to God’s will. I have a stubborn doubt that lingers but maybe surrendering is something done on a daily basis. Lovely poetry from a lovely sister in Christ.

    1. Oh D, you hit it. It is daily, and sometimes even hourly. I’m most certain no one ever surrenders once and is done with it. It’s a lifetime of small surrenders.

  7. You know Susan I heard a message in church this am about instead of always trying to earn God’s love and trying to be good enough. Why not try gratitude for what Jesus had already done. After all it is a gift right. Jesus had already done it all part present and the future. Your post reminds me of just being still. In ourit is Jesus he is always near. Thank you for this post.

    1. Sure, Tom. I struggle with the “effort,” too. It feels so much more peaceful simply “being” in His presence. This poem was as much a reminder for me as for you. 😉

  9. I was just studying a passage about the Holy Spirit this morning and so your poem strikes a chord. I feel closest to Him in the earliest morning. The inaudible prayer is the most important at times.

    1. I do too, Beth. Not many people around early morning. It’s the quiet, I think. Fewer distractions, easier to hear His voice.
