The Parable of the Sower

My path runs in an awkward mess

And never in a line.

I curve and bow but still I grow,

A branch of the true Vine.

This flesh ignores the Spirit wise;

My left hand scorns the right.

I yield to my temptation and

Pay homage to the night.

Presuming faith does fill my heart,

When troubles do arise,

The joy and faith both fall away

My pride was my demise.

My path runs in an awkward mess

And never in a line.

I curve and bow but still I grow,

A branch of the true Vine.

Then worry comes and I’m adrift.

Your Word from me is choked.

No longer reaches me Your voice,

Nor lightness of Your yoke.

Yet sometimes I do navigate

Again to follow You

Where peace resides and love fulfills

My heart secured anew.

My path runs in an awkward mess

And never in a line.

I curve and bow but still I grow,

A branch of the true Vine.

Your guidance there to light the way,

Your cynosure so bright-

Allows your seed to grow and thrive

In fertile soil and light.

As mighty oaks drop small acorns,

I pray my harvest tills

A harvest many times as sown

And planted by Your will.

My path runs in an awkward mess

And never in a line.

I curve and bow but still I grow,

A branch of the true Vine.

Hope you’re well Susan. It’s been a long while since I last stopped by…and I’m sorry for that.

    1. I think we’re all awkward and messy at times. And we’re certainly never abandoned by Him because of it. Everlasting love. That’s our God.

Too much effort sometimes. Resting in being human. 🙂
