God’s Beauty

The Senses Affirm

In precious ways the ear has heard,

when wondrous things the eye has spied,

or fragrance sweet a breath preferred

affirm Your beauty undenied.

A baby’s laugh, a chirping wren,

a crimson sunset oceanside,

first waft of coffee, rose’s scent

affirm Your beauty undenied.

Savoring luscious strawberries,

the richness of the fruit provide

delectable testimonies;

affirm Your beauty undenied.

In precious ways the ear has heard

affirm Your beauty undenied.

  3. Slam dunk, Susan. I like all of it (and I honestly can’t say this often on other boards). You pulled off the passive voice smashingly, too: “beauty undenied.” Really like that spied.

    Yeah!

The best part is, I know it came from the truth in your heart. =)

      1. I look forward to reading more! Until I came on WordPress, I thought poetry was perhaps, a dying artform which was seldom appreciated. How wrong I was! 🙂

  9. I have discussed the existence of God with a lot of atheists and agnostics over the years and the thing I have long told them is, one can explain the order of our multi-verse without God but not its beauty. The beauty of our world is the greatest proof of God’s existence. It is just not necessary for any other reason.

    1. You’re absolutely right, Beth. While I may not be able to argue theologically about the existence of God, or the “unseenness” of my faith, I certainly can point to the the undeniability of the unaccidental beauty of creation.
